Waves breaking on the California coast in February 2012
A few days ago, my good friend Drew Holt started a petition in response to this outrageous news that you can read more about here. Yes, I am a total bronie and this is a topic very near and dear to my heart. Please show some support for Derpy and sign Drew’s petition today!
Thanks everyone!
I’ve been crazy busy with school starting back up, planning a trip home to California for a week to visit my family, and I also got engaged to the most amazing person ever. I’m not sure how many people are here reading in the infancy of my blog, especially what with how slow I’ve been in posting content, but I hope to change all of that, especially after I return from California on the 29th (hopefully with a slew of new pictures to share!) I’m something of an aspiring photographer and I hope that I can use Places Stuff and Things to share that with the world.
I know, I know. I’m about a week late, November has been here for a while now. I’ve been occupied. New semester recently started up, so I’ve been back in school. I will be another year older in exactly one week, as well. Hurrah for that. No, not really. I’m not really concerned with arbitrary measurements of time anymore, though I never really was one to celebrate much on my birthday anyway. I’ll probably just go grab some food with a few close friends, maybe have a beer or two, which is more than usual for me.
On the subject of birthdays, today happens to be the birthday of Carl Sagan, who is a great personal inspiration to me as a human being and in my opinion is one of the greatest people to have ever lived. Dr. Sagan would’ve been 77 years old today, and he was taken from us far too soon. Today, on his birthday, I’d like to share this amazing video, taken from the audiobook version of his Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space.
Happy Birthday, Carl. Thank you for all you’ve done for me, and all you’ve done for the world.
I don’t much care for Mondays, and I never really have. All Monday does is remind me of how short the weekend was and how long it will be before it comes again. I propose extending the size of the weekend by at least one day. Perhaps we can add Monday in? I imagine I’d like it more that way.

Welcome, welcome. You’re here because you’re curious about this site that I have created. My name is Andrew Jones, and I created Places Stuff and Things mainly for my own amusement, though you guys are certainly welcome here. I’m not selfish.
I am a 24 year old college student with far too much time on my hands. I’m an ice sculptor (last night I made a cube). I dabble in music, am a professional cook by trade although my aforementioned status as a student will bring an end to that. I enjoy the company of friends, video gaming both on the PC and on consoles, severe weather, fine dining, computers, cosmology, meteorology, my bottle of Tapatio hot sauce, and explosives. I live in Atlanta though I’m originally from San Diego, California and I have an amazing girlfriend, Briana Higgins.
At some point I am certain I will write about all of these topics, and probably many more as I delve into the depths of my mind to ramble on about some thing or other during the life of this blog. I hope you enjoy yourself here, dear reader. I don’t know who you are or why you’re here as I’m not writing for any targeted audience or for much of a reason at all except to write. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it, reader that has made it this far on my “About” page. So I say to you once more, welcome, and I hope you enjoy this glimpse into my mind.
Welcome to my home on the web. Here I will discuss places, stuff, and things as you may have guessed. I am now headed to bed, which is a place, to do some stuff called dreaming on a thing also called a bed. I’ll post something else later.
But for now, this is my first post. We are live.
